CIBF, the China International Battery Fair, is the largest battery exhibition in the world. The 2026 edition filled 280,000 m² across 14 halls in Shenzhen, with more than 3,000 exhibitors and over 350,000 expected professional visits from 50+ countries. CATL, BYD, EVE Energy, Sunwoda and the equipment makers that build gigafactories are all there. If your customers are in the battery or EV supply chain, the CIBF attendee list is hard to beat.

This guide is written for teams planning the May 2027 edition.

What is CIBF?

CIBF is organised by the China Industrial Association of Power Sources (CIAPS). It covers:

  • Lithium-ion, sodium-ion and solid-state batteries, plus lithium-metal
  • Cathode, anode, separator and electrolyte materials
  • Battery manufacturing equipment and automation
  • Energy storage systems
  • EV and e-mobility batteries, and batteries for electric aviation
  • Recycling and testing

Equipment makers such as Lead Intelligent, Hymson and Lyric Robot exhibit in an intelligent manufacturing zone for gigafactory automation. A large technical conference runs alongside, including the Advanced Battery Technology Conference.

Location and dates

Recent editions have been at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District. The 2026 show ran from 13 to 15 May. CIBF has moved between Chinese cities in the past, so check the host city for 2027. Bao’an is far from central Shenzhen, but close to the airport and to the electronics and EV supply chain.

Who attends CIBF

Visitor What they need Who wants to reach them
Battery cell and pack engineers Materials, components, test equipment Materials and equipment suppliers
EV, ESS and consumer electronics OEM procurement Cells and packs Battery makers

Gigafactory project teams (Europe, US, SE Asia) Full production lines and partners Chinese equipment makers, engineering firms
Investors and analysts Market intelligence Research and advisory firms
Researchers The conference programme Lab and testing suppliers

Gigafactory project teams from outside China are a particularly valuable group: they’re often making large equipment decisions within the next year.

Registration

Professional visitors pre-register online through the official CIBF link. No visitor fee was published for 2026. Conference programmes have separate registration.

Why CIBF data is hard to get

There’s no dedicated mobile app. Registration runs through an online form and CIAPS WeChat channels, and most content is in Chinese. With 3,000+ exhibitors and fast-changing technology, building a reliable target list (and checking that exhibitor claims hold up) takes time. A pre-built, enriched list helps your team focus on meetings instead of research.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • The global centre of battery supply chain sourcing
  • Direct access to market leaders like CATL and BYD
  • Strong equipment zone for gigafactory projects
  • Large technical conference
  • Close to Shenzhen’s electronics and EV supply chains

Cons

  • Very China-centric; trade tensions affect US participation
  • Crowded and technical, so you need clear objectives
  • Limited English content
  • Venue far from central Shenzhen
  • Fast technology change means exhibitor claims need checking

Outdated titles and missing companies cost you meetings. I clean and enrich CIBF profiles before delivery, so the file you import is one your reps can trust. Get a clean CIBF list

How to prepare for CIBF 2027

  1. Confirm the host city as soon as dates are announced.
  2. Decide your layer of the stack: materials, cells, packs, equipment or recycling.
  3. Target international gigafactory teams if you sell equipment or engineering services.
  4. Bring technical people. Conversations get deep quickly.
  5. Verify claims on chemistry and capacity before committing to partnerships.
  6. Follow up within a week, while specifications and quotes are still current.
