CMEF Spring Shanghai: Medtech Fair Guide and Attendee Leads

The China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) is the largest medical technology show in Asia, and the spring edition in Shanghai is its flagship. The 2026 spring show expected around 5,000 exhibitors across roughly 350,000 m², with about 300,000 visits and more than 10,000 international visitors. For medtech companies building distribution in China, or selling components to Chinese device makers, the CMEF attendee list is one of the most useful datasets in the industry.

What is CMEF?
CMEF is organised by Reed Sinopharm. It covers the whole medical technology spectrum:
- Medical imaging: CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray
- In-vitro diagnostics, molecular and point-of-care testing
- Hospital equipment, operating rooms and hospital construction
- Smart healthcare, AI and wearables
- Rehabilitation and assistive devices
- Ambulance and emergency equipment
- Medical components and OEM manufacturing, through the co-located ICMD show
A large forum programme runs alongside. The combination of finished devices and the component supply chain is what sets CMEF apart from most medical fairs.

Spring vs autumn: where and when
There are two CMEF editions each year, and people often mix them up.

Registration
Admission is free for trade visitors who pre-register through the official CMEF WeChat account or the iCMEF mini program. Registration is mandatory, and you enter by scanning your ID or passport. International visitors use a separate English registration flow on cmef.com.cn. It’s a trade-only event.
iCMEF and its limits
iCMEF is the official WeChat mini program for exhibitor search, ticketing and booking, and the CMEF WeChat account issues your electronic visitor code. It works well inside China’s ecosystem. It’s much less useful if you need 300 distributors and hospital buyers sorted by region and specialty in a spreadsheet, with names and LinkedIn profiles, before you fly. That’s the gap a pre-built list fills.

How medtech teams prepare for CMEF
- Confirm which edition you need. Spring is always Shanghai; autumn moves.
- Map halls by specialty (imaging, IVD, surgical, rehab, ICMD) and focus on two or three.
- Prioritise distributors if your goal is market access, and qualify them by region and product focus before the show.
- Get regulatory answers ready. Distributors will ask about NMPA status straight away.
- Book meetings four weeks ahead. Senior people at large distributors are fully booked during the fair.
- Log every lead the same day. With thousands of conversations, details blur quickly.
