How Cosmoprof is organised

Cosmoprof is split into three salons, which makes targeting easier than at most shows:

Salon What it covers Typical buyers
Cosmopack Raw materials, contract manufacturing, packaging, machinery Brand owners sourcing private label and packaging
Cosmo Perfumery & Cosmetics Finished products for retail Perfumeries, department stores, pharmacies, e-commerce
Cosmo Hair, Nail & Beauty Salon Professional channel products and equipment Salon owners and professional distributors

CosmoTrends and the Cosmoprof Awards highlight emerging categories such as K-beauty, clean beauty and men’s grooming, which is useful when you plan conversations.

Where it takes place

The show is always in the BolognaFiere exhibition district in Bologna, Italy. The Cosmoprof network also runs Cosmoprof Asia, Cosmoprof North America and Cosmoprof India, but Bologna is the flagship.

Bologna has limited hotel capacity. Prices surge in fair week and many visitors stay in nearby cities and commute by train.

Who attends Cosmoprof

  • Retail buyers from perfumeries, department stores, pharmacies and e-commerce
  • Importers and distributors looking for new brands
  • Brand owners looking for contract manufacturers and packaging partners
  • Salon owners and professional-channel distributors
  • International buyers invited through the Buyer Program

Note that Cosmopack and Cosmo Perfumery & Cosmetics close a day earlier (Saturday) than the salon area (Sunday). Plan your B2B meetings for the first days.

The Cosmoprof app and Buyer Program

Cosmoprof runs an official app and online platform with the exhibitor catalogue and a matchmaking and meeting system. The Buyer Program schedules meetings for selected international buyers.

These tools work well for the buyers they include. The trouble is coverage: most visiting retailers and distributors never join the programme, and the catalogue only lists companies, not the people you need to reach.

How to prospect Cosmoprof Bologna

  1. Choose your salon. A packaging supplier and a skincare brand need completely different lists.
  2. Map competitors by hall using the exhibitor catalogue.
  3. Qualify buyers by channel and country. Perfumery chains, pharmacy groups and online retailers buy differently.
  4. Filter out the long tail. Cosmoprof has many small exhibitors, so rank by company size before you reach out.
  5. Book meetings for Thursday and Friday, when the B2B halls are busiest with trade visitors and quieter than the weekend salon crowd.

Pros and cons

Pros Cons
Covers the whole value chain, from packaging to shelf Bologna hotels are limited and expensive
Very international buyer base Salon halls are packed at the weekend
Separate halls by channel Many small exhibitors to qualify
Strong trend content and awards
