InnoTrans is the world’s biggest rail-industry trade fair. In 2024 it brought together 2,946 exhibitors from 59 countries and 169,214 visitors from 128 countries on 200,000 m² of space in Berlin. The next edition runs from 22 to 25 September 2026, followed by September 2028.

InnoTrans is trade only, with no public days. That keeps the audience focused on operators, infrastructure managers and procurement teams, which is exactly why rail suppliers plan their sales year around it.

What happens at InnoTrans

Rolling-stock makers such as Alstom, Siemens Mobility, Stadler, CAF and CRRC exhibit next to signalling and infrastructure firms and thousands of component suppliers. Outside, a track display shows more than 100 trains and vehicles. The show is organised into five segments:

  • Railway technology: rolling stock, components and signalling
  • Railway infrastructure and track construction
  • Public transport: buses, trams and metro
  • Interiors and passenger experience
  • Tunnel construction

Digitalisation, cybersecurity and maintenance run across all of them.

Where it takes place

InnoTrans is held at the Messe Berlin fairgrounds under the Berlin Radio Tower, with a 3.5 km outdoor track and display area. It does not move and runs in even years. Berlin hotels fill early for InnoTrans week.

The InnoTrans app and InnoTrans Plus

The InnoTrans app and the free InnoTrans Plus platform provide the exhibitor directory, programme and networking. They are helpful for navigating halls and the outdoor track. For sales prospecting you still need the people behind the stands and the operators who visit, which the platform does not export.

How to prospect InnoTrans

  1. Pick your segments. Rolling stock, infrastructure and public transport have different buyers.
  2. Map OEMs and tier-1 suppliers if you sell components, and list their procurement and engineering leads.
  3. Target operators and authorities in the countries where you bid on tenders.
  4. Plan routes between halls and the outdoor track. It is a big site, so cluster meetings by location.
  5. Load your list into your CRM before September so follow-up can start the week after.

Pros and cons

Pros Cons
Unique outdoor vehicle display Biennial
Trade-only, highly qualified audience Large and spread out
